While I was a bit disappointed in Homeworld 'remastered' due to the mash-up of mechanics since they combined some from HW1 and 2 (and I personally hated HW2) I am excited for this game.

What I enjoyed about Homeworld personally was the quest between the stars to bring a remnant of your people back to a home destroyed in war. The feeling of keeping your big capital ships and maybe some other between missions. Finding the wrecks of ships as large as planets.

So far Shipbreakers looks like any other RTS. It's clearly not a Homeworld-esque game, so it'll have to stand on its own.

I pre-ordered. While i dont think i am going to love it as much as previous Homeworld games, since i prefer space setting and HW1 is just perfection overall, only Rebellion able to get to its level so far in my eyes, i am actually more excited about this than Remastered. To buy that one i just felt obliged, but never really intended to play much - after all i played it once before, so there was nothing to surprise me. This one, being completely new, i am truly curious about and cant wait for 20th January.

Neither do i. Its a risk. But whatever. If i wont like it, so what. Just another 35 EUROs wasted. Done that before, actually this past year more than ever - with the likes of Grey Goo, AoA, Grim Fandango Remaster, Ashes of Singularity (to certain extent)....whats one more?

Yeah really hope it's good but as Timmaigh put it, wouldn't be the first time money spent (sometimes wasted) on the latest new release etc...

Speaking of, just building myself a new gaming 'rig'.  Finally tired of gaming (or attempting to) on my notebook (albeit is a 'gaming notebook').  Picked up an i5 6000K and an MSI Krait with GTX 970 fairly cheaply so I finally decided to 'build' again.

That and I just had to put the Samsung 950 pro m2 to the test.

I don't think we are going to see anything new, or "ground breaking" (pun intended) in DoK. I think this will be another typical ground based RTS. I am more interested in the what they do with the HW story than any game play itself. Since i already have Remastered i pre-ordered since i got the discount for it, and just to complete the HW collection. If it does indeed turn out to be a good game. Even better.

I feel exactly the same.

I need gameplay videos, screenshots maye even a demo. About being groundbreaking, it wont be but if it will be a homeworld style large scale ground combat it can be very unique in its own way.

And just because a game isnt that groundbreaking doesnt mean it cant be good.

Wait and see, they have been working on this for years, my only issue is that gearbox has a very bad name to them when it comes to allowing the developers of the games they publish to support their game post launch with patches and balance updates.

Also everything from their support staff to the relation with the developers and marketing itself seems very convoluted. They seem to have a very complex and layered company framework.

Homeworld remasters, grey goo e.t.c. are prime example's of that. I myself in the contact i had with some community managers got from them a very negative view of the publisher.

So do not expect any kind of constant update schedule for this game(i might be wrong but.....), it will probably be released and that will be the state of the game for many months mentality.

In fact just because this game is published by gearbox makes me not preorder the game really.

I agree that is one thing that is lacking is any kind of game play videos. Save for the one early video. There is much we do not know about DoK.

I never said it wouldn't be good. I am giving the game a chance. Otherwise i wouldn't have pre-ordered it. I said if it does indeed turn out to be good. Then even better. It was money well spent. I seriously doubt we will be seeing anything "new" as in any kind of new RTS mechanics. So far it looks like typical base building, or defending if bases are pre-built. Complete X, or Y objectives, Watch story cut scenes. Pretty much like Ground Control 1, and 2.

Gearbox has been surprisingly good about patching HW: Remastered. TBH i only expected one, or two patches then abandonware. They are still working on another patch that is supposed to help modders even more (yet classic HW formations will remain broken). For DoK i expect the same... One or Two patches. Then abandonware.

Blackbird is making DoK. Rob Cunninham is the project lead. So i do have somewhat of a high expectation. Gearbox publishing it doesnt bother me unless they rushed the damn thing out the door (Like what Sierra did with HW2).

Apparently there is going to be some IGN playthrough with devs tomorrow.
